Phelps County Focus: “G.R.A.C.E. offers list of resources for food assistance”

G.R.A.C.E. (Greater Rolla Area Charitable Enterprise) is a local non-profit created in 2000 to respond to emergency needs in Phelps County. They are the clearinghouse for folks in need whether it be for food, clothing, emergency funding, etc. G.R.A.C.E. coordinates with many of the amazing resources Rolla has to offer, and they have put together the following list of resources for those needing food assistance at this time.

• G.R.A.C.E. – Every Tuesday noon-2 p.m., Food Box Distribution; 601 N Elm Rolla – Open to everyone, Drive-Thru.

• Rolla Public Schools – Monday and Wednesday ONLY; On-site pick up will be available from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the following locations: Truman Elementary (main front entrance) and Rolla Junior High (main front circle drive). Rolla bus drivers will have food available at the following mobile sites at these times:

  • VFW Hall: South Hwy 63 – 10:30-11 a.m.
  • Shriners Club: Hwy 72 – 11:30 a.m.-noon
  • Kokomo Joes: Hwy V – 10:30-11 a.m.
  • Vichy Road and Woodcrest: Vichy Road – 11:10-11:40 a.m.
  • Academy Sports: Lower Lot – noon-12:30 p.m.

• Phelps County Faith Distribution – The distribution takes place every third Saturday of the month. Grace Church, 12640 South U.S. Highway 63: 8 a.m.-noon. Enter the parking lot through County Road 5020 just south of the church and immediately before the Fairgrounds. For eligibility requirements, go to phelpscountyfood.org or for more information, email phelpscountyfood@gmail.com.

• Southern Cherokee Tribe – First Friday of every month at Shriners’ Lodge Parking Lot Hwy 72, first come/first served; Contact Jessica Matthews for more information. 573-201-0921

• Rolla Nazarene – Upcoming dates at the Rolla Nazarene Church are May 23, June 20, July 18, Aug. 22, Sept. 19 and Oct. 24 at 1901 E. 10th Street. Please bring laundry baskets or boxes with names on them and some proof of residency in Phelps County. While registering, box will be filled for pick up and go. This new procedure is an attempt to minimize contact.

• Greentree Church – Tuesday, May 5 beginning at 10 a.m., Greentree Church parking lot. This distribution takes place the first Tuesday of every month.

• Rolla Nutrition Site – For those ages 60 and over; hot lunch curbside – call to sign up: 573-341-2929.
