Phelps Health, along with G.R.A.C.E. (Greater Rolla Area Charitable Enterprise) and Good Samaritan of the Ozarks, are teaming up to provide Thanksgiving meals to local families in need this year.
From Oct. 5 through Nov. 5, Phelps Health will accept food items for the 10th annual “Basket of Thanksgiving” food drive.
Due to visitor restrictions in place to help slow the spread of COVID-19, the public is asked to first call Tracy Limmer at 573-458-7759 or Crystal Lorah at 573-458-7947 to schedule a time to drop off food donations at Phelps Health or to schedule a pickup.
All donated food must be non perishable. A specific list of food items is collected for each basket, and one basket feeds a family of four.
During the 2019 food drive, 232 baskets were collected for local food pantries.
Last year, in addition to Phelps Health employees and volunteers, several community organizations and businesses made donations as well, including Brewer Science, Discovery Schools-Rolla, Drury University-Rolla, Ozark Actors Theatre, Phelps Health retired employees, Results Radio-KTTR/KZNN and Sakelaris Ford of Rolla. Individuals in the community also donated.
All proceeds will benefit the families registered with G.R.A.C.E. and Good Samaritan of the Ozarks. The Phelps Health Mission Possible team sponsors this food drive.
Visit phelpshealth.org for more information or for a detailed list of items needed.
