A donation of several boxes of food was made at the courthouse Thursday as part of the seventh annual G.R.A.C.E. Thanksgiving food drive. Public Administrator Kathy Oliver reported the items were collected by county employees at the courthouse and sheriff’s department between Oct. 10 and Nov. 10. The effort was a joint partnership of the county government and Phelps County Regional Medical Center.
PCRMC Community Relations Manager Tracy Limmer was present Thursday and said hospital will be donating a turkey, a dozen eggs and butter to each donation box. Limmer said each box of donated food will feed a family of four for Thanksgiving. She later reported to the Focus that this year PCRMC and Phelps County collected a total of 181 completed boxes and 214 additional items were donated to area food pantries. The grand total of all items collected in the food drive is 4,482. That amount was donated by employees of PCRMC, Phelps County, Rolla Family Dentistry, Drury University – Rolla Campus and the Life Care Center of Waynesville.
